5th. November 1995Press Release: The Cotswold HyperGuideThe Cotswold hypermedia partnership Digital Brilliance today announced an electronic guide to the Cotswold region which can be read by millions of people in every part of the world. The Cotswold HyperGuide contains entertaining guides to twenty towns and villages in the Cotswolds, along with dozens of colour photographs, and directory listings for hundreds of hotels, popular sightseeing destinations and leisure pursuits - and it is expanding rapidly. Anyone with access to the Internet, the world's largest computer network, can browse through pictures and descriptions of many of the most beautiful sights in the Cotswolds. Digital Brilliance partner Colin Low explains: "The Internet makes it possible for someone sitting in their home in the USA or Japan to become a virtual tourist and visit England, and the Cotswold region deserves what we think is one of the best guides on the Net ... or off the Net for that matter." "If you have ever tried to plan a holiday you will know how difficult and time-consuming it is to find out really useful local information before arriving. If you want to plan a walking or a cycling holiday, having in-depth local information makes a big difference. We think the HyperGuide will give local tourism and business a big boost now that an estimated 20 million people world-wide are using the Net, and of course, it's not just for foreign tourists - local people will find it just as useful." The HyperGuide uses active text and pictures which can be selected to jump quickly from one page to another, so that initially a reader is presented with very broad information and can choose for themselves how much detail they want. Because the HyperGuide can be extended to any level of detail, it provides a simple way for local businesses and organisations to link in to the HyperGuide and provide information about their services. Colin adds: "The Net is rapidly becoming the way to find out about most things - it is cheaper and more accessible than traditional methods for telling people what you are doing, and most large businesses are already out there. We want to extend that so that even the smallest organisation in the Cotswold area has a place on the Net where they can hang their hat." The Cotswold HyperGuide can be accessed by anyone with a World Wide Web browser (Netscape preferred) on: http://www.digital-brilliance.com/hyperg/index.htm Contact Jan Swanson on 01453 845233 (UK) or -44-1453 845233 (international) or for further information.
